Scarborough is the main town of the island and it is a mixture
of the old and the new. A modern shopping mall includes library,
post office, market and bus station (this is a terminus for trips
to all parts of the island). A short walk away along Carrington
Street you find the older part of the town, this is also modernised
in places. On a hill overlooking Scarborough is Fort King George,
a superbly maintained site which includes the remains of many
