Imagine a place where the surrounding habitat is all that goes unspoiled. Where relaxation is the number one priority. And you leave here knowing that you have finally arrived. It's where the Catalina foothills give way to the Sonoran Desert. And it echoes with the sounds of bliss. It's the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. 93 acres of resort area that adds up to countless activities. Such as two Tom Fazio designed golf courses, a 2.5-mile par-course for walking or jogging, several waterfall-dotted nature trails, biking areas, two pools, eight lighted tennis courts, a croquet court, and of course our full-service spa. Guided horseback tours of the surrounding mountains and desert can also be arranged. Nearby is the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Sabino National Park with its unique wildlife and cool rivers, and the Tucson Botanical Gardens. All said and done, it's a place that's only far from one thing - ordinary. * Loews Ventana Canyon Resort embraces the spirit of this unique and beautiful land. It's a hushed world where long-time residents such as the Saguaro cacti, the coyote, and the great horned owl live in undisturbed harmony throughout our 93 acres. Inside, native copper, desert amethyst and muted tones of mauve and sage blend in with their surroundings. It's truly an oasis.

After serving as a colonial outpost under the Spanish and Mexicans, and then as territorial capital for both the US and Confederate governments, Tucson (pronounced TOO-sonn ) - a mere sixty miles north of Mexico on the cross-country I-10 - has grown into a modern mini-metropolis of nearly a million people without entirely sacrificing its historic quarters. Now equal parts college town and retirement community, it's one of the more attractive big cities of the Southwest - which admittedly isn't saying much. Although it suffers from the same Sunbelt sprawl as Albuquerque and Phoenix, it does have a wanderable center, some enjoyable restaurants and a pretty good nightlife, energized by the 35,000 students at the University of Arizona. It is also redeemed by having so much superb landscape within easy reach, from the forested flanks of Mount Lemmon to the rolling foothills of Saguaro National Park. Hotels in Tuscon |
